Awnings and birds

I have an 07 Monaco with slideout awnings/covers.............having a problem with birds attempting to build nests in the awning opening..........I have cranked out the slides 3 or 4 times already this year to clean out the nests.........anyone have this issue, better yet anyone else have a solution?..........I have tried stuffing a towel in the openinga, and wadded up aluminum foil...............neither stopped the little devils........suggestions?...............

This has always been a concern of mine. They like to go in there and poop also and if the slide ever does come in and there is a nest of birds living that would not be pleasant. Only thing I can think of is some type of screen on the ends to keep them out.

Boy I just came in from stuffing my awning ends with foam from an old mattress pad. them birds just don't give up. Some years they never touch them but other years they do. The wife says when the blue jays come around they scare them off.

Just cleaned out a big nest from my dp engine air intake box. Glad I found it before I started the engine. That would have been a new air filter. Going out to check slide out covers right now.
