Bad Day, Bridge Height

Just came upon this news article, from Sept 14, 2021 near Racine, Missouri.
Rig appears to be a 2013 Monaco Diplomat.

The driver and passenger needed medical care. Was not able to find any follow up news stories. Hope they were okay after treatment.

My guess the driver was unable to stop in time. No idea how far away the warning signs were from the train trestle. Or if the 9'-9" sign on the first bridge was the only one.

There is also footage on YouTube;

Sadly, it appears that the wife, age 93, did not survive. RIP.

That is very sad. I try to really watch the signs and just be aware in general as things happen fast on the road.

Years ago I got a Class B CDL and during my driving test she sent me on a short section of interstate, and of course under an overpass. On the other side she asked "What was the clearance of that bridge?" I answered that it was not posted, she just looked at me and said I failed, and to show me she had me exit and loop around. We got back to the bridge and sure enough there was no sign, DOT must have taken the sign down. She just laughed and said to head back to the start. I passed.

Awful tragedy. I do pay attention, but to be honest, sometimes I get lax about it. Stories like this rattle me enough to step it up. Very sad to see something like this.
