Bad inverter? Weird stuff going on.

As it stands now, I only have power (12vDC or 115vAC) to the house when the engine of the motor home is running.

Plugging into shore power energizes the transfer switch but the inverter is not powering up, however the inverter works when the engine is running.

The propane generator will start and run with the motor home engine running, will not run when the diesel engine is off; it immediately dies when I turn the key off.

The "on" light on the salesman switch for the house batteries is not lit when the engine is off, lit when its on.

Weirdest of all, when I tried hooking a battery charger to the house batteries (thinking possibly they were just grossly depleted) the charger indicated I did not even have the clamps hooked up when the engine was off, but DID start charging with the engine running.

Any ideas? I'm lost.

The inverter is a relatively new AIMS pure sine wave, and the batteries are year old 100ah Li-Fe

House batteries stone dead or not connected.

Check house battery ground cable and inverter fuse.

To you have a meter to test them ?

When you start the engine, the isolation solenoid closes and that connects the chassis battery to the house battery system. Thats why things work again.

Your issue will be between that isolation solenoid and the house battery.

See that you have Lithium battery.

They have under voltage circuits in them that cut off output. Do you have info on them ? They also shut down if asked to draw more then 100 amps.

100 AH of lithium may not be enough for your system.

Thank you!

I've been using the same batteries for the last 6000 miles, and with 200 AH had no problems running my stuff.

I did just check the batteries with a meter; virtually nothing; how is that even possible?
I didn't check earlier because when I had the inverter running the inverter said the battery voltage was 13.7

Now how the heck can I get them to recharge?

Did a bit of reading, you may need to connect a small battery charger to the batteries to bring it back to life.

The charger in the inverter/charger may be outputting to high an amp output and the battery is shutting down from that too.

It also won't charge if the battery is very low.

That why I suggested the small charger, about 10 amp or so. Leave it on for 6 hours or so.
