Bad Water Pump (engine)

It looks like I have a bad water pump in my Cat 330 engine. Coolant is leaking pretty bad. ('97 Beaver Patriot) I took it to the shop and they said it would be $300 for the part and $600 labor to replace it. Does that sound right? Or should I shop around?

always shop around. 2nd opinion helps especially when its more
than just a $50 item.

I have a gasser 454 and the water pump is anywhere from $70.00 up to $200.00 and $400.00 to install. They also say to have a new fan clutch installed at the same time. Not sure if the diesels have that or not.

I'm thinking it might be best to find the water pump first and have it installed. Any clues how I can find the part number? Are all 330s the same?

I would ask down in the Cat Forum, or have a Mod move this down there. A second opinion can never hurt, and I would image since it is a DP that the labor is a bit more since it is not all that easy to work on them, you have 2 choices, reaching up from the bottom or laying on your stomach and reaching from the top.
