I have a 08 Monaco Dynasty. How can I find out if my basement compartments are heated. I plan on doing some serious winter rving this year.

Hi.

I have an earlier monaco. But you should have a switch labeled SYSTEM HEAT in the power cabinet where your storage lights are.
There will also be a small heater in your water bay.

I use an indoor outdoor thermostat sensor and placed the remote portion in the basement. I always know how warm / cold the underbelly is :0)

Dynasty trim level definitely has basement heat of some sort. Cheaper Monaco lines used "snap switch" or "snap disc" thermostat switches int he basement, cheap & somewhat failure prone. I believe higher lines used a Dayton or similar single point thermostat like I have in mine:

It'll be fastened to the basement ceiling, probably near the water tank, have a small copper tube coil & elongated copper bulb. Mine has a small dial for setting the temp; some are preset to a fixed temp.

I believe your house thermostat has to be On for the heater to run, tho you can leave interior zones Off. If you have HydroHot or AquaHot type heat, its heater has to be On as well. For propane furnaces I believe this basement tstat is a secondary call tap on the furnace's mother board, but I'm extrapolating beyond my available data on that.

To monitor temperatures I have two panel mount thermometers, one that is under my kitchen sink that monitors the freshwater storage compartment and one is under the bathroom sink that monitors the water service bay.

It does not take much when the furnace is running to make the temperatures rise.

My Bounder does the heating automatically when the heater is in use. It doesn't need to be 'hot' it just needs to be above freezing somewhat to prevent freezing. Basement models nowadays insulate all the tanks so well you would be surprised how cold it has to get to freeze things in your basement compartments.

The owners manual for my 08 Endeavor is over 240 pages long. I cannot stress how important it is to get one. I have been through every page dozens of times and still find things I have forgotten.

Your basement heat may include pads on the water, black, and gray tanks as well. I haven't found that in my owners manual. Could be in a supplement but I didn't look today.

If you boondock and use the bay heater you will need to put your generator in the autostart mode or you will hammer your batteries. It can draw 20 amps easily.

I'm plugged in so no problem with power. I'm changing my temperature sensor to a mounted adjustable thermostat. Much better for testing. My tanks all have heat pads that are powered through a relay from a fuse in the battery bay.

Thank you for your interest in my question concerning my “basement heating”.

I am going to my storage facility next week and empty my basement compartments and do a thorough search. (based on the information I have received from all of you guys.) I need to be sure I know what I am talking about. My coach definitely does have “aqua hot”.

I have never been in the northern United States in the deep wintertime so this topic is of utmost importance to me.

I will definitely be back in touch with you as soon as I do the above.
