Batteries discharge

I have a 2013 winnebago vista 35b with a xantrex 1100 watt inverter. When connected to shore power my house batteries will discharge causing all circuits normally powered by the inverter to go dead until I disconnect from shore power for a short time. My understanding is that the inverter in this case, is not a charger so what is supposed to charge the house batteries?

You have a converter/charger. Many of them are tucked in with the circuit breaker panel.

While on shore power, you must have the Battery Disconnect Switch, often near the side door, in the USE or ON position. That allows the converter/charger to charge the battery.

Thanks for your response but I'm still unable to locate the charger even after removing the interior panel under the sink where access to back of the breaker panel is made. Also checked the interior compartments where the inverter is located as well as near the transfer switch. I read that the charger would likely be in the interior mounted to the floor where it is well ventilated.

Here is the link to all of your wiring diagrams.

Hereís the diagram that shows the location of your converter. Iím not sure where this is but it looks like under your fridge. But perhaps you access it in a cabinet. Hopefully youíll recognize this location.

If you have a breaker box like this, its behind the cover that holds the breakers in.Click image for larger version

It would be great if you could share what the solution to your problem was so others in your position can learn from your experiences.

As a follow-up to my issue of the house batteries not charging in our 2013 Winnebago Vista 35 b motorhome, it turns out that once I located the converter/charger under the refrigerator cabinet base, one of the external 30 amp fuses appears to have had a loose or corroded connection. After checking each fuse several times with a 12v test light and getting a reading on only one side of the fuse, I removed the fuse and found it to appear ok. After reinstalling the fuse , the converter charger immediately started working and has continued to do so for a couple of days now. Hopefully it will continue. Hope this information was helpful. Safe motoring!
