Battery issue

Just replaced the chassis battery a couple of months ago. Coach and generator each cranked right up

Now, 7 weeks later (its been parked and plugged into 50A all this time) we’re back for a long weekend and i go to crank it up “just because “ and battery is dead again. Wont even honk the horn.

Could this be as simple as we forgot to switch toggle to “stored” instead of “in use”?

Since we’re plugged in, shouldn’t that not matter?

2017 Thor Challenger

Many thanks

Your chassis battery may not receive any charge from the shore power charging system. Not all coaches do that. If not, you can add that feature easily with a simple and inexpensive device called a Trik-L-Start.

Most vehicles don't suffer chassis battery discharge that quickly, though, so you may have something drawing excessive power from the chassis battery.

Do you have a Use/Store switch for the chassis battery? If so, use it.

I was having the same issue with chassis batteries discharging, I installed the Trik-L-Start and problem solved.

It does have the Store/Use toggle but the design doesnt allow one to look and determine if it is on Store. Several of us use it so any of us could have left it in Use ststus

Appreciate the recommendation of the trickle charger. Ill get that installed soon

Will somebody please explain to me why any mfg. would build a MH that did not have the ability to keep itself ready and able to start? It is nothing more than a small solar panel, a few electrical componants and some wires.

Do you have anything plugged into the cab 12 volt system? Some stay live even with key off and in time can run the chassis battery down.

I suspect you had the chassis battery disconnect in store position. Battery won't charge on mine if in store position. So if plugged in, leave it in use position.

Thx all.

Sent my son over to make sure its in the "USE" position

Also to make sure that the TPMS or something else isn't plugged into the dash.

Next will be to research trickle chargers I guess. Try to get one installed next month
