Battery Jump Starter kit
Does anyone carry one of these battery jump starters, and if so what brand have you found to be the best one to have without paying a small fortune for it?

Just bought this based on input from another forum.
It seems well built. I bought a much smaller one a few months ago but sent it back as it was far to small for even a decent sized pickup.

Maybe I'm lucky but I cant recall needed a jump pack more then 5 or 6 times in my 54 years of driving, often times driving rolling junk.
I just don't see the need to carry one now.

With all the batteries I have onboard my RVs, don’t see the need for a jump pack.

Seen top Utube mechanic I kind of follow... truck had exploded battery ,out of three brands this is only one to start it. He doesn't push or review any products. Has $10 coupon. They have one without air compressor too smaller $59 slightly less amps.
AstroAI Jump Starter with Air Compressor,1750A 12V Battery Jump Starter with 150PSI Digital Tire Inflator, Up to 7.5L Gas & 5.0L Diesel Engines, Visible LCD Screen with Jumper Cable, AC Charger https://a.co/d/7aFQI1Z
Another member said they were really happy with their brand inexpensive multimeter they picked up. Seen 10% off the AC/DC clamp meter.

Did he disconnect the cables and jump them or just hope like heck there were no positive and negative plates shorted together when he put 1000+ amps on them?

I carry one of these. Have this from my diesel boat days. Haven’t had to use it on the coach but I did use it once to crank a Detroit 671TIB.

I carry mine mostly for the "other guy". It is a pain to drag out the jumper cables and get my truck into position sometimes.
Running an after market inverter could lead to a dead battery if not carefully monitored in my F150 for example.
The USB ports will charge electronics. The light is alway handy.
I carry a tow strap as well, not for me. I like to be prepared.
Not likely I will ever need it in the RV for sure. Plenty of backup and the generator will supply the 100 amp charger just fine.

I'm not sure why you would ever need one. You have 2 battery banks, so the house can provide the jump you need if necessary. Plus, if the chassis batteries are dead, will the portable jump have the power to start your engine? When we were looking to buy our current MH, the chassis batteries were going. Even the large commercial charger/jump starter couldn't start the engine.

i now have one! i have had two instances where i would have used it had i had it at the time. we have a pickup and 5th wheel.
the first was many years ago when we tried to have the trailer batteries run the residential refrigerator overnight. in the morning they were so low they would not start the onboard generator. i had to carefully position the truck so i could get jumper cables between the truck and generator. not easy!
the second was just a month ago when we were camping with our group and for some reason the truck batteries would not start the engine. i could have got a friend to pull his truck over and use jumper cables to start out truck. but the friend had one of these jump start packs. he simply walked it over, connected it, and it started the truck engine. so much easier than doing the repositioning of a second truck in order to use jumper cables.
all that being said, i feel more self reliant carrying the jump start pack as if i ever have to use it i can do it myself without having to rely upon finding a second vehicle to connect jumper cables to. even in rv parks we sometimes park our truck in places that it would be hard to positions another vehicle next to.

But this was posted by someone who owns a DP. I get it if you have a 5th wheel or trailer.

I carry this in the toad. Very useful when boondocking as well for charging phones, pads etc when away from the coach, even has a little inverter.

This was me, the original Poster. I was asking mostly to have for the Jeep I tow or the Honda PU I drive while at home since batteries seem to be going dead with no warning. Last year after towing the Jeep for 2 days the battery was dead by the time we reached our destination. The CG manager tried his jumper but it didn't work so he had to drag out his long jumper cable before I could unhook the Jeep.
Been thinking I should have been carrying one of the jumper kits.

I carry one and have used it a couple of times. It saved the day for a number of folks as we were lined up at the dump station, and the guy next in line to dump, a few vehicles ahead of me, couldn't start his truck. We tow a CRV, which is known to have battery issues because the battery is so small on that vehicle.
