Bed lift

Our bed is on a slide so installing gas struts seem to be a challenge since they can't be fastened to the floor...suggestions?

Ours were fastened on the inside of the bed base and on the underside of the bed. I'm not sure why you need them fastened to the floor.

As "twogypsies" stated, most are mounted on the inside of the bed frame and underside of the bed. Often, over the years, they may tear up the inside of the metal. To make it stronger or to add heavier lifts, just plate the inside wall of the bed frame with some thin plate.

Here is what I did to my Monaco years ago....I added a larger mattress and needed heavier pistons. The bed frame was not strong enough for the extra strength of the pistons. I added a piece of angle iron to keep the bed frame from spreading and then mounted two pistons to each side. I also plated the underside of the bed for more strength.

When determining the size of the strut needed you have to consider the size/weight of the bed you are lifting. You have to keep in mind that the lift is from the back of the bed, not the front. In my case, I ordered 2 ea SL26-150-1
26 is the length and 150 is the output force. It is recommend that both be replaced. As stated/shown they are mounted on the inside of the bed frame and the bed itself.
