I installed a 12 volt actuator to assist my gas struts. It has a remote function. I left the two gas struts and mounted the actuator parallel to one of them. Still have to help it a little but it does 90% of the work.

Nice idea
If JimBob has existing it would just be a matter of in increasing strut lifting weight
But I like the idea of the remote actuator

RV bed lift kits
From experience, buy the next heavier lift gas springs than is recommneded.

You could tie a rope loop around the bed where you plan on attaching the gas struts. Then use a fish scale to pull up on the rope loop in the direction that the bed will lift.

That should give you an idea of how much total force is needed. I'd think each strut would provide half that force.

Or just wing it and put a couple on and change them as necessary.

Remember, when the bed is down the struts will be compressed and exerting maximum force on their attach points. Be certain those attach points are strong enough, perhaps with a metal plate on each side and nuts and bolts.

I've added additional/heavier struts to a previous coach. The only concern is the lower attachment point. It may have to be upgraded, or you'll tear it apart.

I agree completely. At our dealership we repaired many bed frames that were broken by the struts. If it was a heavy bed we cut a piece of 1x4 about six inches long and attached to the bed frame. If it was a king super heavy, we ran the 1x4 vertical against the floor.

Wish I had that on our last holiday when the fuel shut off solenoid quit on me and I had to lift the bed every time I needed to start the m/h for almost 2 weeks before I fixed it.
Might be putting that on the project list before the next holiday.
