Proves I was confused .
I guess I meant the RV King which is 72" wide.
Sorry for the confusion.

Why not a foam topper

We have 2006 Newmar Dutchstar with RV king mattress. Rather than replace the mattress, we just added a King Novafoam 3 inch gel foam topper from Costco. They retail for about $160 but are frequently on sale for $120. I am sure you can get similar from Sam's Club or Amazon. I trimmed 4 inches off the width and it fits great. The topper came with a cover. Our sheets fit fine as well. Sleeps like a new mattress.

Everyone who has slept in our Entegra raves about the mattress. We love it as well and needed to replace our mattress in our home. We found out the brand and contacted the factory. They will make the mattress to whatever size you want and ship it to you. Their pricing was great and the service was as well. The company is Sleep Made and they are in Columbus, Mississippi.

Chris, does the topper move around and or bunch up, or does it feel like one unified mattress?

I just sent them an inquiry. Thanks for the heads up!

So the Original Mattress Factory called me right back and they do build custom sizes as you noted. The Orthopedic Extra Firm we have at home is $850 + a $50 fee for the custom build in 72" x 80". It's 10" thick, which is 2" thicker than our RV mattress.

I'd prefer the Orthopedic Luxury Firm, which is the next less-firm but it's 2.5" thicker. That may be a problem because of the nightstand cubbyholes.

They did say they just remove one coil set to make it narrower and the tolerance will be 72" plus or minus 1.5". I have 73" from wall to wall so I may do this.

Thank you so much for mentioning them!

Ray

It's like a plush unified mattress. Wife and I both enjoy our bed much more with the foam topper.

We just bought our second Dynasty mattress from Amazon (for a new 5th wheel). LOVE IT. About $500. When we replace our home bed which has Hilton spec mattress, this is what we will get. I’ve had both 20 and 13 inch. 13 inch is a little high.

DW is picky about her sleep and this gets her check mark.

I don't want to fall into the RV mattress rabbit hole, as you pay twice as much for half as much mattress because it says "RV" in the description. Weight is no consideration at all for us, we have loads of available weight and we're much, much more concerned about comfort, quality and price than we are weight.

We're not real picky, we can be comfortable on a typical quality bed, but the potato sack that Newmar put in there is thin and useless. I didn't measure how thick it is, but I seriously doubt that it's even 5" thick. It's like something I would think a prison would supply. Luckily I wouldn't know about that first hand!

All that being said, what did you guys do to get a decent quality narrow King mattress without being taken for a ride because it's a "RV" mattress? Who sells these that is not a RV specialist? I'm sure I'm not the first one here to come across this.

EDIT - I see some on Amazon and they all seem to be memory foam and 72" wide. 72" will certainly fit our space. What is it like sleeping on these foam mattresses. We like medium to medium firm. We have only slept on regular mattresses never these foam things. We have a mattress upstairs in our guest room. It's a regular mattress with a pillow top. We don't like it, it's too soft. Ordering a mattress mail order without having the ability to lay on it is a bit daunting. Do any of you have any input on all this?
Mattress insider. Better than my home mattress!

What I did on the Monaco Dynasty King I just finish renovating and have for sale now, is I bought a full King Memory foam (which I love them, well as long as they are described a medium firm. I memory foam you sink into so 3" Memory is good) but made sure it hade a cover that was removable (it has a 3 side zipper). I simply cut the width down with an Electric Knife I bought at Walmart. The foam cuts like butter. Save me have the cost of a RV King and you have a lot more options on mattresses .
