Best place to dry camp between San Diego and Seattle
Heading north and would like to find a picturesque landing pad 1/2 or 1/3rds and 2/3rds of the way between San Diego and Seattle. Lake? River? No to far of road? I won't share your secret spot. [emoji12]

We traveled the ocean route, there were several Casino's along the route. I believe we stayed at the Chinook Winds Casino
We stayed in the upper parking lot, away from the crowds with nice view of the ocean.

Three days is a pretty hard drive if you do the coast route. It is a beautiful drive but roads are two lane, curve, hills and pretty rough in places especially northern California and through Oregon. When doing I 5 San Diego to central Oregon coast we plan stops in San Jose, Redding, Eugene and then home. Try mapping out Redding, Eugene with last leg Seattle.

For your second stop, there is a WalMart in Roseburg. Not picturesque but works. There is a rest area at Rogue River that has a campground next to it. Very nice on the river, but costs minimal $$'s.

7 Feathers Casino , truck stop and rest area ( free parking in rest area good food at the casino and truck stop , I-5 Exit # 91? in Oregon I've made Seattle in a day from there.
Many rest areas on I-5 allow stops up to 8 hours .

That is a good stopping place. One of the nicest RV parks, but also a good dry camp area. It is exit #99. 99 miles north of the CA-OR border.

It's called Valley of the Rogue State Park. There is a rest area that's limited to 4 hours overnight. The park costs $28 a night.

Take the coast route.
That way you won't have to find a place to stop because it will take 24 hour a day driving to get there.

Seven Feathers or Rogue River for your second day Stop. You're going to need to find someplace near Sacramento for day 1. I cant help you with that part. but casino lots are a good choice.. I think there are a couple in the area. You can make it from Seven Feathers to the Emerald City in about 12 hours in an RV.

dry camping
Refugio State Beach, or Gaviota State Beach are one LONG days drive from San Diego.
Wal-Marts are always good, if local city ordinance does not prohibit.
Do you belong to Elks? Many Elks Lodges have camping. Anything from dry camping to full hook-ups. Safe, clean and the lodge is right there for meals!

Wow, glad you asked here on this forum!!
There are only two places to drycamp between SanDiego and Seattle! If you're not careful, you will drive past them.
The first one is near Modesto, it's the one on the left, after the sycamore tree. The one on the right only has FULL hookups, and you don't want that one.
The other one is a few miles South of Seattle. You'll know when you are there because of all the VW camper vans painted with daisy flowers, you can't miss it!

Heading up 395 for the trip, or a part of the trip, cutting over to once you get 2/3's of the way North - will yield many Boon Docking locations off of 395. Suggest you also post this question, or ask the Moderators to move it, to the RV Camping Boon Docking segment of the board. Many non Class A campers, will have good input for you...
