Boost Juice Turbo

Hello All,

I am currently considering upgrading from my 2006 Jay Feather travel trailer to a Class A diesel pusher.

I looked at 2005 Tiffin Phaeton 35DH motorhome with 2 slide-outs listed for $73,500 this past weekend. Although the unit was in excellent condition the asking price appeared to be too high-it was a private owner. At this point I have not made an offer, just doing some research.

The owner stated it had some type of power booster and showed me a reservoir tank that contained "Boost Juice" with a couple of hoses with two one way values. He stated when ready to make a steep climb, to switch the values and it would increase the HP. I did a Google search and did find such a device for diesel motors, just could not find data on Class A diesel pusher.

Does anyone have any information a such a turbo boosters for Class A diesel pusher?

Are there any drawback to such a device?

Although I have not logged in to this site for awhile, I have been on the site probably over a 100 times in the past year-really great information, thanks.

I have several other questions that might be best asked on what I believe is a Tiffin's only part of this forum.

Boost Juice is especially winter window washing fluid or a mixture of methanol and water and is injected into the intake to help reduce exhaust gas temperatures (EGT) which will keep the ECM from backing off fuel (limiting power) which would otherwise be required to protect the engine valve and turbo. You also get a very minor boost in performance from the methanol content but the primary benefit in power is due to being able to continue to extract the maximum factory potential without engine damage.
For a pre-DEF/particulate RV like yours, it is completely safe and you can find "Boost Juice" substitutes (I think bulk winter washer fluid etc.) so you can keep your tank filled for much less money.
If you research the diesel truck forums you can find lots of good info on the tech. It's also been used in the hot rod industry for years to reduce pre-ignition/detonation on older high compression motors trying to run modern comparitively low octane fuel.

HaRVey gave a good description of it. I wouldn't pay a dime extra for it, though. I'll bet the seller thinks it is worth something, though.

Rudy, just so you know, you don't need to keep the system operational if you decide it's not worth the effort to refill the tank, it is a completely independent system and will not negatively effect your otherwise stock engine performance if not used.
The system is not very expensive and it's possible benefit to power (mainly when under load when towing or climbing hills) may be offset by the cost and labor to maintain the function (i.e. refill the tank every trip).
