So, we have concluded it's NOT the Dawn that caused the problem and you are NOT stupid. Don't you feel better now?

By the way, Dawn is a good choice for washing if you are preparing to re-wax the RV. Get's off the greasy road dirt and old wax as well.

Since you have Trident protection on your coach, additional wax is not necessary, kinda the point of spending all of that money. BUT, back to the stuck door issue.... The DH is kind of a sloppy guy. Regardless, he does do more than his fair share of the household chores, particularly in the kitchen. I mentioned this thread to him and he told me about his experience this morning doing the breakfast dishes. Apparently, last night after doing the dinner dishes, he placed the dish soap container on the counter, but soap had run over the side and underneath the container. This morning, it was "stuck" to the counter. Being the curious type he googled the issue and found that dish soap when left to dry will act more like an adhesive than a lubricant and requires hot water to completely rinse and remove. Who knew? I learn so much reading posts in this forum.

If Dawn hurt your trident protection, I'd be asking for my money back. As above, dried soap will act as a glue..

Seal popping off is a mystery to me, good luck on that. Agree with the other posters, that using Dawn is a good way to prep in front of a wax job. We do this once a year on all of our cars and RV, to get down to a good bond on the paint. If the paint needs any clay bar action, I spot clean with a rag of Dawn'ed watere again, then rinse.

Normal wasy, I used Zaino car wash, as it works well with the Zaino finish I used as my wax/seal.

Newmar says to use baby wash soap on their clear coated rigs although I very seldom have to wash ours as I use Dry Wash N Guard and dirt just doesn't stick as much. IN fact water doesn't stick as much.

I never use dish soap. What I do use is Blue Coral wash and wax. Works great for me.

Guarantee, dawn dish soap wasn't the cause of your gasket problem, unless your gaskets were shot to begin with.

I use baby shampoo, only enough in the bucket to just get some bubbles and to to it.

Among all the "proper" ways to wash a vehicle, I guess raayrob got his question answered,,, in that the soap "glued" the door shut. Right ? Good to know....
