Clearly That was a typo on my part. 2 piston is correct as I posted a picture of the 2 piston and a rock auto link to a 2 piston. There are no 4 piston direct swaps I know of.

The 73 and 66mm are virtually identical. 73 allows the use of the thicker pads which should help with heat transfer into the metal piston.

In any case. I will say again. I had 3 sets of 66mm plastic piston calipers and they always locked up. Yes the calipers used had the updated casting number. Still pure garbage.

I found an old article on a school bus forum and they mentioned the 73mm Ford spec calipers used on the F650 trucks. I tried them and they haven’t locked up.

I changed the brake calipers to the NAPA steel version. It’s been 8,000 miles of brakes working fine now.

One thing I found about the exhaust brake with Cat C7 engine. If the cruise control is on the exhaust brake will not stay engaged! I travel in the mountains frequently and this is crucial to saving these weak brakes!

As I crest the top of the mountain I slow down and down shift to 3rd gear with exhaust brake on, cruise control off. I hardly touch the brakes at all even on the steepest Colorado 10,000 foot mountain!

Hope this helps someone.

Unhappy Here I go again !

Front upgraded 73mm 4 pot metal Napa calipers no problem. However recent trek up north rear 66mm plastic piston stock brakes calipers froze, luckily they released and just burnt two rear abs sensors so dash red fault no abs all the way home.
This week I'll try Rayner Truck shop rt40 here in Ocala to see if they can upgrade rears to 73mm 4 pot metal piston type calipers and I'm sure rotors are scared.2005 Dynaquest

Same thing happened to me last year. The left rear one stuck and I limped it home. Also cooked the left rear axle seal and fried the rotor.
I changed both axle seals, rotors, calipers to 73 mm and new discs. Drove it to California and back over the winter and put 6,000 miles on it, brakes felt great!
Fortunately I was able to do this myself and save $$.
Be sure you change the axle seals or you will be right back in there!

Axle seals ?

Never knew of axle seals. Thanks for tip. I'm in Ocala fl and soon will drop M2 rv off at Raney Truck repair. Looks like I have to convince them I want 73mm metal pistons calipers on rear not factory 66mm Bosch pistons which are plastic. Also no go for 4 pot caliper like I wished for as '05 M2 won't fit, have to settle for 2 pot version.
I was thinking, maybe the M2 abs pump is causing these seized calipers ? Or the abs module ? I tested disabling the abs system by pulling the 25amp bulkhead fuse and dash abs of course constantly blinks.
Once new calipers and rotors on rear are done I'm throwing in towel on abs and keeping its 25amp fuse out.
