I have a 1991 Damon Challenger with a Ford F53 chassis. The brakes have went away on me twice. First time I had just been parked for about 20 min. and went to leave and had no brakes. Thought maybe and adjustment problem, so I backed up a few times and hit the brakes and the came back. The second time I had been in stop and go traffic and pulled up in front of a friends house and the brakes went away. Sat for awhile and then backed up and hit the brakes a few times and they came back. I don't want to be in an emergency situation and have this happen. Has anyone else had this problem?

Have you ever replaced your brake fluid. Sounds like your fluid is boiling due to moisture in the fluid & brake lines.

You need to check your brake fluid. If it's low you need to top it up and find where your brakes are leaking and fix it. If the fluid level is okay, your master cylinder is bad. Either way, it's something you should take care of immediately.

So your brakes go out and your fix is to backup? Have you ever heard of a brake inspection?

Now that you have put in print what you have done, and if something happens prior to you doing something substantial to remedy the problem, You'll need an exceptional lawyer I'd imagine.

Bad Master Cylinder is the primary culprit in this case.
At the age of the chassis (1991) I would replace pretty much everything in the brake system. Master Cylinder, hoses, calipers and pads. Rotors too if they have much scoring or warpage.
Do it soon! You are little more than a loose cannon waiting to kill someone with a 15,000 lb cannonball.
Sorry for sounding so serious but it is a serious situation.

Completely lost my brakes in the mountains of Chiapas, MX this winter. Bled and replaced all the fluid. Was good to go. Easy process, excellent results. 94 Bounder 34J/F53.
