Broke down in Cody WY! Cummins 8.3 Alt pulley...

Hello folks. In a bind. Broke down in Cody WY with a bad alt and pulley shelled out from coming loose.

I have an alternator sourced for this afternoon arrival but for the life of me I can not find a pulley! Anyone have any good ideas?

I have tried:
Cummins
local truck shops
salvage yards
all parts stores

Last resort is a local machine shop can possibly fix the old pulley.

If the pulley isn't damaged, a machine shop should be able to press in a new bearing.

Good luck!

This Rv repair shop has a bit of everything and a full machine shop! M and P Repair and RV. They dropped everything and helped me figure this out! I was amazed.

Alternator repair places have some.

Have you tried an Automotive Electrical jobber locally?
Any decent jobber that rebuilds starters and alternators will likely have one laying around.

If the shop comes thru and does a good job at a fair and reasonable price make sure you let the forums know as others are always looking for potential service availability....safe travels.....bob

Looks like a place that can make things happen or pulley stored in cubby hole ,good used condition, that it may save someone's day. Is it road worthy again?? Left u hanging with "figured out".

nbluesky,
You don't say what's wrong with the pulley. Did it fly apart? Can't get it off the original alternator, what?

If you end up having some time to kill in Cody, check out the Buffalo Bill Center of the West Museum.

I will find out this morning more info. I'll post an update asap.

Tried finding anyone who rebuilds electric motors. No luck in Cody. The shop had a contact in Billings. He couriered 2 possible pulleys down late yesterday along with a new alt.

Will see if either will fit this morning. If not he has the skills and tools to bore and sleeve the original pulley that is shelled out from slipping on the alt shaft. Alt shaft is destroyed as well.

We were able to explore Cody a little yesterday but we were all pretty tired. We are flatlanders and 6000 more ft is being felt.
