Building a car port questions class a

So I purchased a new Legacy 38C class a diesel pusher and want a car port

Will 12ft sides work? Cause the center will measure 14 ish....

Any insight please

I am in the process of building a carport for my Mountain Aire. I chose 14' sidewalls. I will be using regular flat bottom truss rafters. It's easier to build high enough on the first attempt rather than having to possibly cobbling it up later trying to get adequate height.

My 40'X60' pole barn has 14' side walls. The doors on each end are only 12'X12'. Had I known at the time I would buy a MH I would have gone with 16' side walls and 14'X14' doors.
By the time you build in the headers and trim them out you will be down to about 13'. Not a whole lot of room for errors. Don't hit the brakes when coming in or going out with the AC units under the header. The bounce you will get could cause a ruckus.
Luckily my MH measures 11' 3" to the top of the highest point on the roof. The header is just under 12' on my barn.
Talk to your local overhead door suppliers to see what size options you have available without having to have the overhead doors custom made which can add dramatically to the cost.

You're probably ok if it is a true 12 feet of clearance at the sides. But, if it were me, i'd add to that to give the 38C, and any taller model that might happen to come along in the future, plenty of room to maneuver.

You'll want some air space if you're planning on running the air conditioner under there. I doubt you have a crank up antenna but if so, it's something that might need room for use at times.

If it is metal carport then go with rounded roof and you gain an extra foot on the sides and the Peak will be 15.5 and sides will be 13’.

I would make it wide enough to open your slides and still walk around it. High enough for someone to work on the roof, if necessary. So, maybe 16 ft wide and 16 ft side walls. You just bought a new coach. Don’t start skimping now.

Our 18x41 metal building has 12' walls, center height is around 15', we have no trouble with our 38' challenger , slides out with room to spare, just park close to center. We are close to 13' to the top of the a/c's.

We have a 18x48' metal carport, A frame style (stronger in the wind and the ocaisional snow we get here) Our 40' Presidio fits very nicely. I stay in the middle, and can easily open all 4 slides.

The higher the carport the less stable, and of course more expense. Ours is sheltered on 2 sides (barn on one side, very large trees on other) however it still moves about in T Storms,,,,, and we have the "snow load" braces.

Forgot to say, 12' legs. 14'5" in the middle, plenty of overhead.
