Buyer beware “just answers .com”
I hate to vent but I also do not like to be scammed. On two weeks ago I was attempting to repair the front latch on my 04 holiday rambler. I saw an add from “just Answers.com”. They indicated they had techs and resources to address most rv problems. They offered a one week trial for $5 and after that it would be $34/month - cancel at any time. I decided to go for the 1 week and then I would cancel. I paid the $5 and was connected to a tech that sent me some info that would help me repair the door. I had several text exchanges with the tech but was not able to repair the door myself. The next day I went on line and waded through a lot of terms and conditions in order to cancel the service. I also sent an email to service.just answers.com making them aware of my cancellation. Today they billed me the $34 for the month. I called their service desk and the lady said that I had not cancelled but she could cancel it for any future charges but she could not issue me credit for the $34. I know it’s small $’s but Buyer beware!!

Buyer beware “just answers .com”
1. Call your credit card issuer and advise them of the fraudulent charge. They should block or reverse payment, and handle the matter from there on.
2. The old “free trial followed by auto renewal” is a really old, really well known scam. Please don’t fall for it again.

i ran into this also. i was looking for help on a pc printer issue and by mistake clicked on their site. their expert was nebulous at best and really didn't help resolve the issue. but they sure billed for the monthly service real fast. i had explicitly told them not to bill the monthly service yet it still came through. i called the credit card company and explained the situation. shortly thereafter the charge was reversed and did not appear again. they sure seem like a questionable company. but they have the credit card info, as do tons of other on-line firms, so i look at my credit card account every day or so just to verify that any charges are legit. you can't be too careful in these days!

When purchasing online especially trial type purchases, use a virtual CC. Many companies offer these (i.e. Citibank, Capital One and others). You create the card for the purchase and use it. Then cancel the card. If it is something you want to continue then just use a new card to renew. This prevents any auto renew from happening and puts you back it control.

I agree with TeachTexas about virtual cards. For example, Capital One Eno gives you an icon that offers to generate a virtual number that is site specific, so it can only be used for that specific site. It also allows you to "lock" the card after a certain date. So, for example, you can set it to lock the day after the charge is made, and it won't allow further charges unless you unlock it using your CC login and password.
Not advertising a particular credit card company, just my experience with this one.

Just an FYI,
You can obtain accurate answers on irv2.com for much less money. We may not have an RVIA certification, but we do, as a group, have a lot of experience.

The help you get for free is much better than the answers I have seen posted by those “Ask a Tech” sites.
