“…obtain an annual certificate of conformity from CARB in order to operate their vehicles on California roads.”

The solution is so elegantly simple. We just won’t operate our motorhome on California roads. No big loss as far as I’m concerned.

The people of California are voting with their feet and leaving the state in droves. I find it amazing that the people running this state cannot see how they are destroying their own state.

What about diesel and fuel oil burning ships that use the port of LA/LB. Those ships create millions of jobs and billions of tax revenue. What about LAX, SFO, SAN and SJC, those jets burn far more fuel than a truck or MH does. If you are going after truckers and RVs, its only fair to go after the marine and air industry too.

Military bases should also move out. Tanks, planes, ships and boats are all big polluters.

Come on California, are you going to talk or walk the walk on the environment.
I agree, on both counts. My guess is that it will have a negligible effect on both the economy and the environment.

As far as the ships go:
Until their time comes to dock, most of the those ships stay far enough out that they can continue to burn extremely cheap, extremely dirty, bunker fuel while they wait their turn. There are already regulations in place about what types of fuel they can burn in port (and yes, they're very strict relative to other ports for that industry).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_o...0or%20aircraft.

There's some irony with the long waits at the ports though, given that prevailing winds are West to East ... CA could probably cut down significantly on pollution by expanding their ports so that those ships didn't have to wait so long (sitting there off the coast burning dirty crude ...).

Ever heard of the 10th Amendment?

Sure. Ever heard of how California can require stricter emissions standards for vehicles titled in California but has no authority to restrict vehicles from the other 49 states from driving in California?

Didn't leave anything when I left there last time, no need to go back. No need to force them to take my money if they don't want it.

We will just cross California off our list of places to go. I can spend my money in other states that will gladly accept it.

I seem to recall that they need a waiver from the EPA for that, and that there were court cases pending between CA and the EPA to decide whether they could continue to do it.

Does not surprise me what they can think of next. Funny how they have some of the worst pollution, crime, poverty, taxes, illiteracy, but they have ALL the answers. I have no interest anyway going to another socialist country anyway. When y'all finally move away from there, please don't come to Tennessee.

It’s been 20 plus years since I visited California. Pretty much saw it all back in the 70’s and 80’s. Not the same anymore and have no reason to spend my dollars where I am not wanted. To many other places to see. Safe travels

Enjoy the journey

Lol this thread. Politics has poisoned this country. So much of this thread is nonsense.

I’m very happy here as are most California residents. Look at the Sonoma Coast, then compare that to anywhere in the east coast. The Outer Banks is particularly bad, with NC allowing unrestricted growth in an area routinely hit by hurricanes. They’ve destroyed the natural beauty and replaced it with hotels and houses that can hold 20 people.

You can find fault with any state. And no, banning a particular fuel source isn’t violating anyone’s rights lol. Geesh. Whine much?

I didn't check the others but, since this thread is basically about air quality, how are you concluding that California has some of the worse pollution?

If this is to be believed, California is number 6 on air quality, Tennessee is 43.

https://www.usnews.com/news/best-sta...ment/pollution

Why is Tennessee doing so badly?

IMHO... things have changed considerably for the worse, in almost everything the state government has its hands in....

Take CARB... in the 60's it did wonders for the pollution issues that plagued the state.... It has since turned into a bloated bureaucracy that has lost sight of its original purpose. It is now knee deep in activism, and about raising revenue.... not to mention it seems to be drunk with power....

The wife and I are actively looking to relocate from SoCal, to another state, because of the insane political climate & the political decisions of the last several years...

They are driving away residents, businesses, and now tourists....

CA was once an awesome place to live, travel, and play... it has lost its luster for us and many other people. There are certainly many places around the US, that are every bit as beautiful, and far more welcoming than CA....

CA can do what they want about motorhomes coming into their state... when we leave, I will have absolutely no problem avoiding any return trips to CA.... in my motorhome or otherwise...
Well said! I moved to SoCal in 1963 and lived there until 2016. It was once a true paradise to live and play there, motorcycles, dirt bikes, Jeeps, beaches and everythng else. The last 10 to 15 years and everything started taking a dump. The only part of Calif. I might drive through is northern and never have any desire to go south again.
