Reminds me of the time I was in a State Park campground in Florida doing my duty on the toilet when all of a sudden a snake slithered by me right in front of my feet. I felt like i was on one of those "Wanna get away?" commercials. Scariest moment ever

It was kind of a sign
We stepped out of the motorhome at a campground in Alaska and there were fresh bear track, longer then my foot and wider then a ballpoint pen.

Wife was going to walk the dogs but went back in the motorhome. I went to register and asked the host about bear activity and they confirmed that there was a large bear hanging around and pointed to the very large bear proof garbage bin that the bear had pushed over.

Been bit. Spent 4 nights in ICU, not fun. Never heard it or saw it. Be careful.

Reminds me of the warning signs in a lot of Florida Campgrounds warning of alligators. Definitely gets your attention.

The worst sign I saw was by a pool. It said persons with active diarrhea should not use the pool. It was a big sign! Makes you think about the fact that they felt a need to post it!

When we used to tent camp, one of the campgrounds we went to had signs that said, "stay on trails, poison ivy in abundance". I wasn't sure if there really was poison ivy, or they just didn't want people collecting firewood out of the bush. Either way, I never found out. I stayed on the trail.

Several years we took our 10-foot pop-up from Ohio to Arizona and stopped at a KOA campground in Tucumcari, NM. They had two covered dumpsters, one unmarked and one marked RATTLESNAKES in all caps.

Seeing as we had kids and a dog I stopped in the office and the conversation went like this:

Me: "How bad is the snake problem here?"

Owner: "What?"

Me: "You have a dumpster just for rattlesnakes and we have kids and a dog, How bad is that problem?"

Owner: "Did you look inside it?"

Me: "Uhh, no."

Owner, with a "what a rube" look on his face: "The name of the high school football team is Rattlesnakes. That's a fundraising project for them."

I thanked him and slunk away.

Probably because somebody did....

Except for Body Cams and Tasers, every policy I wrote had a story behind it.
