campgrounds in North Carolina

Hi, Needing a little help. We are looking for a nice RV resort that is close to Cherokee, NC, Fontana Dam. NC 28 and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We ride motorcycles and want to ride the roads in that area. Would like it to be nice, easy to get a motorhome pulling a trailer into without any harrowing adventures on the roads. Also needs to have cabin rentals. Any ideas would be great! Thanks in advance.

There are a number of nice campgrounds in the Cherokee area. Happy Holiday is one we like. The KOA is also nice, but pricey. This would be a good place to look. Campgrounds, Cabins - RV Parks Directory River Valley also looks nice, though we have never stayed there.

There is a KOA in Cherokee. Check RV Parky | RV Parks & Campgrounds Directory, Reviews, Photos
or similar sites for other options. Some of them might close over the winter.

Have you looked at Iron Horse Motorcycle Resort?

They are in Stecoah. Very nice place, everyone there is a motorcyclist. Right smack in the middle of the best riding area.

We stayed at the Deep Creek Campground in Bryson City year before last and really liked it. We also ride motorcycles and it was very convenient to all of the major roads. The back road getting to the campground is a bit narrow, but in good condition. We had no problem getting in with two 36 foot motor homes, one with a trailer and the other with a Jeep. The park is nicely laid out and the workers were great.

PS: Don't omit the Cherahola Skyway from your ride list. It is a great ride and not crowded with "hot doggers" like the Dragon.

Try PRIDE RV RESORT in Maggie Valley NC. It is close to Cherokee and other interesting places in the Smokies.
