Can you name this part?

This is the mechanism that lowers the "hood" of my F53 based Class A. I had to pull it out of the RV after it broke, and it got me to thinking: there's not much discussion about this part, and if I wasn't able to weld it back together, I'd be hard pressed to find a replacement (because I wouldn't even know what to use as a search term).

On my particular coach, the "hood" (it's a grill, really) opens downward to give access to the oil dipsticks, oil fill tube, air cleaner, etc. Any information on what this mechanism is called (or who makes it) would be greatly appreciated.

I wonder if this isn't more a part sourced by the Coach mfg., rather than a FORD F53 part. Have you tried contacting the Coach manufacturer?

It's technically a scissor hinge, there are a LOT of variations because of the amount and direction of movement. If you wanted a replacement ask for the hood/front hatch hinge for your year, make, and model of motor home. Keeping it lubed will help a lot.

Argosy is 100% correct in telling you to keep the hinges lubricated. A good penetrating fluid will help free up the moving joints and a light oil will keep the rust at bay.
I see no reason why the part you have can't be welded.
Hood hinges seem to get ignored quite often. These hinges take on water every time you drive in the rain or even wash your coach. I keep my hinges sprayed down with WD-40.
Edit: I meant to add to be extremely careful handling the hinge assembly. The springs on them are quite healthy and you can lose a digit quite easily if you aren't careful.
