Can't find Air Dryer on 2010 Journey

If my 2010 Winnebago Journey 34Y has an Air Dryer, I haven't found it. I see the Compressor near the engine and have looked forward near the pressure tanks, but don't see anything that looks like a filter canister that might be an Air Dryer.
This diesel has an automatic bleed system that dumps a little air periodically. Maybe that is all that is needed? Am I missing something?
I'm sure it needs changing, if it has one.

Thanks for any advice.
Richard

I think this is a Freightliner XC chassis, and I found a photo of the business end of one. I think the dryer is the little domed thing between the tag axle, that is about where it is on my 2002.

It’s located where “ dumps a little air periodically”.

The air dryer-I can assure you it has one (desiccant filter) on my chassis is located just in front of right rear axle inside frame. The mounting bolts must be removed and the air dryer assembly rotated sidways enough to clean away all grease/dirt then the spin-on desiccant filter removed. Instructions are included with new desiccant filter.
If you are driving 30-40,000 miles a year change the desiccant filter annualy. If you are driving 10,000 or less each year change desiccant filter every 3-4 years.
Always pull manual moisture drains at the end of each days driving, you should never get water out of them. If you do immediately change desiccant filter.
That may not be your air dryer brand but you get the general idea of how it appears.
EDIT: As you see on Amazon the entire air dryer assy. is $99, just the air desiccant filter is $88. It is likely the air purge valve must be overhauled too, this means replacing the entire air dryer is cheaper than just replacing the desiccant filter and rebuilding the purge valve.

Ray,
Great info. This coach has 37,000 miles and the filter may not have been ever changed. Yes, a new dryer assembly is the better choice. I hope it's not too hard to get to, but I'll get it out anyway.

I'll report back on my progress.

Richard

Actually, a FACTORY REMAN (i.e. the factory that made it, not a cheap "replaces") is an excellent choice.

All parts except the body are new-- filters, valves, heater, etc.

Well within the capabilities of most shade tree mechanics to replace.

Make sure to have jack stands/adequate clearance under the coach. I like driving the coach up on 2X12's.

Brett pointed out what I missed. I linked to an imitation Meritor air dryer. The genuine Meritor brand costs around $400 new.
Thanks Brett, good catch!

Thanks, Brett and Ray.
I'll get under it tomorrow to verify the type of dryer there.
I would be happy with the $99 reman one.

Buy good parts and rebuild it before buying a cheap one. It won't cost that much more and moisture in the air system is a big problem and will cause a lot of serious (and expensive) problems.

Well, apparently I have been looking at the dryer all along.
It was much larger than I thought and does not have a spin on filter cartridge. I thought that item might have been the compressor. It seems it is a Bendix AD-9.
It's expensive. I could rebuild it for about $200-$250 or get a new one for about $400.

What are others doing, that have this Bendix dryer?

Argosy,
That is a great price on a genuine Bendix reman.
Considering that, I might do the swap out.

Bendix AD-9 replacement desiccant air dryer cartridge.
Your picture shows the bottom of the unit, desiccant cartridge is on top.

Ray and Argosy,
I took your advice and ordered the ebay reman unit. I was skeptical that it might be a fake Bendix, but researched and found identical ones for much higher prices. This one looks legit.
Thanks, Richard
