Carbon Monoxide detector

On our 2nd trip in our new Class A. Been here for 3 days and carbon monoxide detector went off for about 10 seconds and then turned off. All propane is turned off. One of the kids put their suitcase directly in front of the detector… can that make it go off?

First step would be to check the battery and replace if necessary. You didn't say if it repeated this alarm or if it was a one time event.

Mine lasted 14 years but they say to replace every 5 years. I had to cut a wire to kill it from going off every 30 sec. Hair spray will set it off also.
Here is the one I used

Try putting the suitcase back in front of it and see what happens!

If any doubt, I would replace it! You don't need to gamble with your life!

Could the suitcase have touched the test button?? Charging batteries give off gasses that will trigger a CO detector in very small amounts as well.

Our first trip with a BRAND NEW Class A...

Ran the generator just before going to bed and got a Carbon Monoxide alarm. You might question whether the alarm is real or faulty. But, please, TREAT IT AS A REAL ALARM until proven otherwise !!!

+++++

We shut off the Gen., turned on fans, opened the windows and got outside. Note to all, sleeping with the generator on is potentially a very BAD IDEA.

+++++

Going down the freeway the next day, I had the gen running to charge the batteries. We got another alarm! The rig is under warranty and the manufacturer is actively on it. Our generator exhaust system is the prime suspect.

Maybe by restricting air access to the detector that caused it to go off? The kind of materials that some suitcases are made out of also off-gas for a long time, and maybe something in the product cause it to go off.
