Carefree Awnings won't retract

We have a 2007 Monaco Diplomat. Both of our awnings are extended out and will not retract. The patio awning does nothing, but the door awning makes a slight audible click. The dealer we bought it from says to check the voltage on the awning Brain Box, however we have no idea where to look for it . . . Can anyone help?

You might want to post this in the Monaco Forum on this site. Someone there will know where it is.
Mine is in under a plastic cover in my basement but I have a Newmar.

Welcome aboard

Just a thought here, ours won't work if the engine is running. Neither in nor out.

Since they are independent of each other the odds of both going bad at the same time would be great. I guess voltage or a battery switch off, remove switch and check for voltage would be my advise.

Take out the main screws on the big control panel where you operate the awnings - you will see two large plug-in's - carefully unplug and wait a few seconds then plub back in and all should work. The system gets out of sinc and I have found this to be the trick. Hope it works. Clarence

For the door awning since you hear the click, have someone pull the arms inward easy as another hits the switch. It helps it get started and will retract once it starts moving. The solution on mine was to add a bit of length (a spacer) to the arms so they remain a little less straight when fully extended. Newmar did this on three of mine (not the patio awning) and solved the problem on these. Good luck

Carefree Awnings won't retract

Thanks all for your suggestions. I'm embarrassed to say that in trying to run a wire directly to the patio awning rivets, on the arm, to run it manually, I discovered our chassis batteries were completely dead. Jumped them from the house batteries, got the engine running, to charge them again, and the awnings work fine. I guess I better start the engine more often. With this heat and the A/Cs running constantly, the inverter has not been able to charge the chassis batteries I'm told.
