Carpet Staple Size
I have to redo some carpet in my 2007 Bounder Diesel. It is a small piece at the entrance door. I found that removing it showed that it was installed with a lot of small u-shaped staples, a lot. I would like to install the new piece with the same carpet staples. Does anyone know what the size would be. They are maybe 3/16" at the head and 1/2" long and small gauge wire. It would be nice to have the exact ga. and size if anyone know that. Thanks

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!
Noticed you are kinda new on the forum and wanted to say hello!
What you describe sounds like either T-18 or T-22 staples that are used for electronic wiring.
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Are you going to use a powered stapler?
Harbor Freight has a good selection of staples for powered staples.

Mine is the same. Needs a air gun with the right sized staples. My neighbor has a gun but the staples required for the rug are too small for the gun. And it looks like if you go too big, the staples will show or feel through the rug. Always something huh. But, I will get it in time. I suppose there is another way to do it, maybe glue. Just a thought.

Be sure and use Monel Staples. They are rust proof. Cheaper staples, and yes even stainless steel, can leave rust spots if they ever get wet.

Well,
Depending on certain circumstances, type of substrate, condition of all the components, you can also glue it down without the use of staples. I've used the ORIGINAL Contact Cement in many cases like that. The original stuff is Lacquer based and is still seriously strong in bonding. The water based stuff is pure junk. But, if the bottom of the carpet is clean and free of oils and dust, and so is the substrate, and you apply a layer of Contact Cement on each one, let it dry for a few minutes, then apply the two together, You AIN'T gonna get them back apart and, no need to worry about what sized/type of staples to get. Been there done that, more than a few times.

Staples
I appreciate the replies, and after some investigation, I've narrowed it down to 3/16" Head X 1/2" long in 22 GA. Material. Naturally the local Box Stores don't have that gun or staples, so I'll order from Amazon. I actually thought about contact cement, but then it would be a PIA to ever remove and was actually glad the factory used staples, even though they use a ton of them. Thanks

You said: "I would like to install the new piece with the same carpet staples."
I would suggest using new staples of the same size. It's much easier than straightening out each little staple and feeding it into the staple gun........ ;-) ;-) ;-)
