We've looked online for a 2 bicycle carrier and boy there's a lot to choose from. Some mount into the 2" tow receiver, some on the ladder, and price point from $39 to several hundred.

So we'd like to hear from you trail blazers what 2 bicycle carrier you chose and why, the price and pro's & con's.

We have the curt 18084 bike rack for two.I think the price was about $125.00. So
far it has worked out great.We liked that it folds up when not in use.

Stay away from the ladder mount ones. The bikes can start to twist and the torque can bend and ultimately break the ladder. Get a hitch receiver one for your motorhome or toad.

This^ I've been using the same rack since about 04 or 05. Never had an issue, and it accommodates any frame configuration or bike size. No need to take the front wheel off either.

I've seen ladder mount racks, I don't know if I'd trust one personally.

I gotta agree. I hang mine off the reciever, either on the back of the my or the back of the toad.

My fears were the same about ladder mount bike racks. That Curt model looks sweet. I just wish it came with a solid 2" receiver piece instead of 1 1/4" with a 2" adapter. But regardless, AMAZON reviews r positive.

I've used a few different brands of hitch mount racks. I now use a Kuat. They are simply the best. Find a bike shop near you that sells them and go look at them. The price is reflective of their quality. Küat Racks

I like that it doesn't clamp or hang the bike by the frame. I have a rather expensive carbon fiber bike and don't really want to clamp onto that. It's interesting that Kuat, as well as many others, say not to use the rack on a recreational vehicle. I asked salespeople about that and they don't really know why. I'm pretty sure the trailer hitch on my motorhome isn't any more jerky than the hitch on my van or suv. I can watch my bikes with my backup camera and they appear to ride very smoothly. I've been using a Kuat for about 3 years with many miles, on various of my vehicles. No damage to any of my bikes.

I also agree to get a rack that mounts on the 2 inch receiver on your RV. By getting a 2 inch receiver for my CRV, we can carry them on either the RV or the CRV, depending on the trip. We also can use it at home anytime. The The Honda hitch didn't come in a 2 inch version, but Uhaul installed one and it works great. As for the rack, I have the kind that the bikes hang from their cross bar. I see a lot of racks where the tires fit in a track. I wish I had one of those as I have to make sure the bikes don't move and scratch their paint. I am pretty good at it now, but it's a hassle and I like easy. :-) good luck with your purchase!

We use a Saris hitch mount rack for two bikes.

It goes in the rear hitch unless we're carrying our scooter and then it goes in the front hitch I had installed.

I use this one because I prefer my bikes supported by the wheels. The plus is we can easily use the rack on any vehicle we own.'

I have used the ladder mount for several years and have had no trouble.
Use the straps that are included to make sure they ars secure.
The ladder is designed to carry a large load, so 50 pounds of bycycle is not going to affect the system.
I pull a toad so there is no other choice for me.

I hate too use this picture but I can't find the pic of it in my driveway.
Held the bikes all the way to Az they are strapped onto the bike rack Harbor Freight receiver and rack both under 100 bucks.

We use the Kuat "Transfer" model attached to the toad. Seems very secure.

We use a Thule Helium hanging rack. It was expensive (around $300), but it's very light so my wife can easily handle it if necessary. It hangs two bikes, and can tilt down to allow access to the tailgate with the bikes attached. It comes with a hitch lock, and bike lock. So far it has worked well.
