“I get 12mpg with my isc350 “

(32 ft coach no toad built in 2017 only drives in Kansas)

“I get 7mpg with my cat350”
( 45 ft coach 7000lb toad drives only in the western state mountains)

Only way to really compare
Same coach
Same lbs
Same driving style
Same roads

Oh and don’t forget the wind, tires, tire pressure, and on and on.

I get between 7 and 8 mpg on my C7. I put a Gatorade bottle with holes punched in it on my slobber tube as recommended on this forum. Perfect fix! No more oil on my Jeep 😁

My 3126 averages between 9.5 and 11 mpg pulling a honda crv and driving around 62 mph. The difference is caused by head winds and climbing hills vs driving on flat land. My coach is only 33 foot long so I am sure that also helps! Now if I want to go 70 plus well all bets are off.

There's not much reason for this debate any more. How long has it been since a new MH came with a Cat engine?

My 2007 Bounder has the C7 Cat. I feeel real good if I get 6.5 mpg.......but I didn't buy a motorhome to save fuel anyway. I like my Cat. Haven't had a problem at all with it.

IMO, the only way to compare is with a computer type feed that keeps a running average over the years. Don't see how pencil and paper calculations while filling at different levels and for maybe not being in mountain terrain or the flats for a year or so can compare with a digital readout being fed from electronic sensors.

Now we're starting to sound more realistic here.

I wouldn't say that, as liar is a pretty harsh word. Let's just say somewhat deficient in arithmetic or maybe just have it confused with their PU truck or other.
I mean, let's be realistic for what one can expect from a rolling hotel suite.

Cat versus Cummins my two cents

I think you could get 12 from a 32’ no slide empty coach and a very good mileage driver that never touches the brakes and takes 4 or 5 minutes to get to 55 mph and also times travel route with the prevailing wind at the back......

I know I can get very good MPG If I pay a tow truck to tow me everywhere.

But I like to have my apartment with me when I travel and I am not going to complain about my MPG when I only drive it 6k a year.

I spend less money driving my coach a year on fuel than I do my car or what I pay for internet services for a year.

I am sure most of us pay more for maintenance and repairs than fuel for a year.

Of course the thread is now wondering of topic......

You forgot about going downhill both ways for reaching and returning from your destination.
Yup, fuel is the least of ones concerns for owning a beast. Depreciation per mile is another story unless buying some years old and then its's still a pretty good hit.

cummins and cat

I just wanted a engine that would stay out of the shop, and pull a hill with a toad on the back. I currently have the ISL. According to the spec sheets the Cummins has more torque than the Cat. I am very satisfied with the ISL. This is the 3rd Cummins I have had. I know its a Chevy vs Ford scenario. I go with the Chevy their. MOMCAT

lol, the only way that I could get 12 mpg is 6 on the highway, and 6 in town.

tropical 36

I said in previous post I liked my ISL. What I didn't say....7 mpg is something I wish for. I really can't ck mileage with pen and paper, because I never can seem to get it full. Speed or towing does not have a great effect on mt mpg unless I go over 70 mph. MOMCAT
