catalytic converters

has anyone ever changed their catalytic converter? I have an older Winnebago 1992 Adventurer 454 Cevy P30. The coverter is peeling apart around the converter on the outside. A piece of metal was dragging on the pavement. Engine does not seem any louder, don't think it is all the way through the converter. Thanks

If you live in a state that does not inspect I would replace the cat with a piece of exhaust pipe considering the age of your coach and the motor. It may not make a difference at all but at least you wont have to spend the money for a new cat. If the motor seems to run rough (which I doubt it will do) you can always install the cat.

Good Luck and keep us in the loop

Yeah, I kind of have my doubts that is a converter. I dont think they were required in 92 on vehicles over 6000 lbs. https://www.dieselnet.com/standards/us/ld_t1.php#stds

And if it was a bed based converter (the flat type), it would have probably given up the ghost already.
