It's no big deal to drill a darn hole in the roof if, that's the best spot for your C/B antenna. Geeeze, that's what Silicone or, whatever kind of sealant you choose is for. You just want to make sure you have access to the underside of that "hole" before drilling and, you have a plan of attack on just how you're going to route the coax type antenna cable, down to your radio. I did it two years ago. My hole, was already there 'cause that's where Winnebago installed the original C/B antenna. But, that antenna went south and, I had to install a new one.
Well, based on the fact that the base of the original one was really hoaky in a fiberglass roof, I built a new base for it. Waaaaaaaaaaaay better and seriously more solid and stable. Yep, a nice bead of SILICONE worked very, very well in sealing my new base and, any screw holes etc. NO WATER intrusion from any rain storms or washings yet, and it's been a minimum of two years since I did that.
