Change oil
Sadly I only put 100 miles a year on my Cummins diesel. A 2010 I got in FL and drove to MA in 6/14. I have changed oil and filter in late 2016.
Should I change now or springtime, filter?

I would take and oil sample after running the engine and getting it up to operating temperature for at least 1/2 hour
Based on the sample no change may be needed and never change the oil without the filter, some folks change the filter and not the oil but not often in coaches

The high level of some of the answers here, are why some people do not ask for help on this form. Keep up the good work.

Think the word is "forum", not "form", but, more to the point, what does "the high level of some of the answers" mean?

Ouch. So you're saying that a diesel engine you acquired in 2010 didn't get its oil changed until SIX YEARS LATER (2016)?? And now, 3 years later, you're asking if it's time to do it again???
OMG.

My guess is that the oil is probably close to what it was in 2016. I have seen engines set for years and were fine when put back into service. My only concern would be the formation of moisture from condensation due to the temp changes over the years. An oil analysis would tell the story. Oil and filter are cheap so the easy answer is to change both before storage. I would drive it for 30 miles or so to warm it up and drop the oil and filter. Add new oil and filter and move it to storage.

We use desicant / filter crankcase breathers at work on huge dual acting reciprocating air compressors due to oil analysis for rising moisture and dirt. We even added I tiny one on to a Polaris UTV that high moisture , it's breather was originally a cut in a hose "no joke" I have considered putting on on my motor at least during storage. A non PVC diesel may contaminate it too bad while running.

WOW! I know my place now. Chasher has good logic on this. Large construction Companies have equipment set for long periods of time and do not change the oil before putting them back in service. Its your money, do what makes you feel good.

Bought in 2014 and oil changed in 10/13. Sorry I wasn't clear on that.

Thanks everyone for your input. We are stationary full timers and I run the engine every month. I have decided that I can wait until spring. It's not the cost or inconvenience but rather the neccessity life of the oil. Thanks again.
