Have you done any troubleshooting to determined if there is power to the motor? Be a shame to have a new motor installed only to find out it's a bad connection or a blown fuse that's causing your evil....

Yes, there is power to the motor. My son took the motor and "gear box" assembly off and when he took the top of the box all of the connections looked as if they were fried! Possibly old age, but at any rate not usable. Checked with local dealers and they only want to sell the entire step/motor package. Even Colaw RV Salvage says they don't have anything that old. I am not very knowledgeable on electrical things so when I say this post about using the window motor it caught my attention.
I appreciate your reading my question and any information you can give me will be appreciated.

Window Regulator Motor
The motor & gearbox are probably a common Window Regulator. If you take it to an auto parts store that knows their stuff they can identify it for you from the part numbers on the motor.
Lots of times it's the Left Hand Front for a mid 90's Ford Taurus.
Good Luck!

Just replaced my step motor last week. Took old one to Napa and they matched it up with a Ford F 150 window motor. Easy fix.

Do you know what year F150?
The 95 Taurus does not fit my step.
The Am 210-1011 appears to be the right one, it would be nice to compare at the auto parts store.
AM wants $45.05+$15.41 shipping and a 20% restocking fee.
I cleaned the comutator and brushes, removed the rust and crud from the amature and lubed. It is working ok for now.

Rgvtexan- I noticed in an earlier post Husky Jack states:
AM manufactures the original motor for the step companies. You can check out what they offer on line and determine which is the correct part for your application. If you call them they can send you spec sheets for any of the motors they make.
I have a 2004 Southwind and the correct motor for it was a Model 210-1011.
Price was $39.75 shipped.

He states that the AM part 210-1011 fits his 2004 fleetwood Southwind. You state that is the same part number that fits your RV. I point this out because, I recently replaced my step motor on my 2003 Fleetwood Storm with a motor purchased at O' Reily's (sp) auto parts and it was a late model Ford Taurus - and Jack's RV steps are the same as mine.

Thanks for the advise. Will take it to our local NAPA store. It is so nice to have this forum so folks like me who know very little can get the help we need without the sales pitch. Thanks again.

I also used the mid 90's ford Taurus motor on a previous MH, a '92 Holiday Rambler.

Used info and pics from this Post
I recently replaced the window motor on my 00 SeaBreeze Kwikee steps (series 32).
I used the motor from Advance Auto Parts, removed the motor and gear box plate from the rv and did everything sitting down. I did change the gear from the old motor to the new motor which fit better into the drive gear. I do not think it is in anybody's interest to try to work on the motor only part of the assembly. They do wear out.
Thanks for the excellent advice and pictures.

Same here (last year) ... for $40 and an hour or so of your time it's a no-brainer. And you get to lube everything while the assembly is apart.

A problem I discovered that the shaft for my gear box is oblong and all others are round. could not find a way to make them work together so I took the silver motor off, cleaned and filed the brushes.....will test it after a plate of Fried Chicken for lunch....wish me luck!

We tried Advance, Auto zone and napa, before ordering from I think, AMI or something like that. The same brand as on steps. Think I have mine going good now, so have a spare in the storage box.
