Chassis Battery

Good afternoon....first time I have had to change my Chassis batteries on a 2004 American Eagle, with Spartan Chassis. Has anyone completed this work? If so level of difficulty? Changed them on cars never on motor-coach.

Thanks in advance.

Take good pictures before disconnecting to aid in reconnect.

If confused, make cable markers from masking tape as each cable is removed.

Use chassis battery disconnect switch.

If 8D batteries, they weigh about 110lbs each.

A good idea to remove rings and watch.

Clean off connectors with baking soda solution.

Reconnect the ground to chassis cable last to avoid sparking.

Flip the disconnect switch

The 8D's I'm pricing weigh about 160#'s each according to the spec's.
I just changed my 4 925 CCA Group 31 batteries yesterday. Took pictures and used masking tape to mark everything. Only problem I'm seeing is that I can only get about 3 threads on the post for the nuts. Doesn't seem to be enough thread to torque the nuts down. Need longer posts but the only come one length.

There are lots of options if you have space on top of the battery. Something like this threaded onto to post then using a bolt/washer combo.
