Cheap Amazon Slide Motors?

2006 Fleetwood Discovery 39s. Just broke the driver side slide motor off. Rev RV wants a truck load of cash for 1. (Almost 2000$)

Anyone used the Etrailer or Amazon replacements for the Power Gear 523900 type motor and gearbox?

Thanks for help.

I would "not" be afraid of the Amazon motor.

I did a quick look and there is a huge price difference.

Not saying there wouldn't be a difference in the two motors but my guess the Amazon would work.

But you should check to see what might have caused it.

If it’s a power gear motor who cares where it came from.

They aren't power gear. They're copies. Replacements. Substitutions. Amazon.

Does Power Gear actually make the motors, or could they be sourced from the same factories that some of the Amazon motors come from, but they stick a PG label on it and triple the price? Kind of like the Kwikee motors...

Motors bought directly from Power Gear (Lippert Components) aren't made by PG anyway. They buy them from motor manufacturers and slap a PG part number on them. You can buy the same motor from someone else with a different label on it.

For $2000 for a small motor and gearbox you should get ground and machined parts. What you're getting is sintered metal and plastic, that's Chinese no matter what the manufacturer's tag says.

While the steps were still Kwikee I ordered a motor from Kwikee, there was a single electrical brush floating around in the box. A couple of months later I ordered one of the Chinese step motors, it also had a brush in the box. That's too much coincidence, I'd bet both were made on the same assembly line in the same factory.

I purchased a 523900 motor on EBay for $71 last year. I’m sure it’s not a Power Gear motor but it works just fine on my bedroom slide.
