Folks,

As I have some oil interest I have followed this for years. Be careful of what you hope for as over the years every time fuel gets really low in price it spikes higher than the last high of the previous high. Stays there for a year then starts trending down but rarely reaches the last low. So enjoy cheep fuel but expect it to not last forever.

I read a news article last week that stated there are more loaded oil tankers parked off shore at major ports then there ever have been. The oil companies are using the tankers as storage since there isn't any where to put it at the ports.

This could all change in a heart beat with one news story so don't get your hopes up.

I did enjoy paying an average of ~$2.25 /gal on the last 3600 mile trip. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Diesel fuel prices are tied to the heating oil season enough for that to be watched by anyone that is trying to plan on travel costs during the times approaching and during heating oil season.

I like this resource to keep track of fuel prices: This Week In Petroleum Distillate Section

There is also an email list that sends out gas and highway diesel price averages for the five regions of the country and CA. Email Updates - U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA)

This is the guy you see on 60 minutes ect. He has the best handle on prices and oil futures.

Here is what I don't get . He never tell me anything. Before I bought my boat the price was $.89 per gallon, when I sold it it was $4 per gallon. When I bought the MH it was $2 for diesel and shortly after it went to $4.25 per gallon. He never warned me.

BUT he did predict last year that price for oil would be as low as $35 by 2015 and we are very close to that now.
