Choosing the correct brake controller

I have a 2007 Sportscoach Elite pusher. I am retiring a Jeep Cherokee that I have towed several years without a brake controller due to its low weight. I am rigging a F150 that weighs about 5000 lbs to replace the jeep. Looking for some input as to a good brake controller for the F150. There seems to be allot of brands and prices out there. Thanks for any advice, Road Monkey

As you have a Diesel Pusher, AirForce One is the way to go. Easy hook-up and it is transferable from vehicle to vehicle. I just removed it from my 2005 Ford Focus to move it to my new 2019 Jeep Cherokee. Finding the room under the hood was not a major problem and while I had the Jeep apart to install the RoadMaster Base Plate the AirForce One easily installed. The worst part was snaking the Air Line and wiring through the Firewall into the drivers compartment. It has worked great and I like that it comes complete with the Emergency Break-away components standard, not an accessory add-on charge.

Just to make sure you get your terminology correct when looking for your answers, a brake "controller" is what you use inside the towing vehicle to control the electric trailer brakes. What you are looking for is an auxiliary braking system for a towed vehicle.

I use a Brake Buddy Classic II. I also wanted it transferrable between vehicles and installation was simple. I can hook and unhook towbar and brakes in 5 minutes or so. I have very little room under the hood for anything else.

In my opinion the primary reason for having a system on your toad isn't for added braking it is for the breakaway cable. I wouldn't tow without one.

ReadyBrake in my rig. Cheap and easy install. No electronic components or need for toad charge line.
