Circuit Breaker Trip

My 2005 Monaco is equipped with a ME2012 Inverter Charger which often trips the CB1 output. My wife just now forgot that we had an electric heater running and plugged in the hotplate, that resulted in the breaker popping and the loss of AC power. I understand that there are amperage limits but is this typical? is there a way to maybe marshal the power in a more efficient way, is there perhaps an issue with my inverter? Any suggestions/input will be appreciated. I just want to make sure I am not doing something wrong or maybe just expecting too much. Thanks.

The ME2012 is rated at 2,000 watts. Your electric heater can be 1,200 to 1,500 watts and a resistance hotplate anywhere from 900 to 1,500 watts and for an induction hotplate 1,800 watts, so you are putting more load on the inverter than it can handle.

Even if on shore power, your drawing close to 30 amps thru that circuit plus what ever amps the charger and any other loads that run thru that circuit are drawing.

Get the heater off the inverter circuit. Maybe run a new circuit just for the heater.

Not sure if all Monaco's are the same but I only have one circuit that doesn't run through the inverter besides the block heater. My only advantage is that I have a Trace RV2012 which has two separate pass through circuits. I have never had the circuit breakers on the inverter trip.


If you understand electrical you could opt to try and wire in a circuit that doesn't go through the inverter. I did this and have a circuit in the bedroom that I can run a small heater off of.

Thank you. I thought about doing that, and may still. I'm just hesitant in trying to fish wire to where I want the outlet(s). I'll have to do some noodling.
