City water to fresh water tank

Is it possible, when hooked to city water, for water to leak into fresh water tank

Yes. You can have a stuck backflow valve. Either in the plumbing itself or in the water pump.

Also, if you have a newer coach with the shower bypass valve, it feeds into the tank while engaged.

Yes, happens alot. When it does you'll see water flowing out of your fresh water filler spout. Shut off city water use the pump. It usually unsticks the check valve (Back flow preventer) and back to normal after a while.
