Clacking sound from right front where steps are?

So, Ive got about 4 hours driving time on my new-to-me RV, 2000 winnebago ultimate advantage...

While driving down a smooth road, every once in a while I get a loud "clack" in front of the passenger front wheel. Incidentally, where the kwikee steps are.

Clacks about 1-2 times every 5 minutes.

Sounds like a loose sheet metal part hitting metal... or a hammer hitting the underside.

I looked under the RV, nothing loose.

Could this be from the kwikee step?

Or, the sliding floor insert?

Generator tray sliding?

It almost sound like the kwikee step banging, but, its on smooth roads. Can it be partly engaging somehow, and then retracting? Could a sensor be bad?

Just trying to make sure its not anything more serious. Dont see any loose suspension parts, etc...

My plan is to shut the step off, and see if it solves the issue...

If you have a Freightliner XC chassis, with solid front axle, the noise which can be random may be due to deteriorated bushings on the front axle anti sway bar. There 4 locations. If this is the case you will be amazed at the ride improvement when you change them . A half inch of play there translates into about five inches of sway at the top of the coach. Anyone that has this chassis should do this inexpensive upgrade!
It is an easy low skill job. Takes less than an hour. Get the nylon bushings. Sorry I do not have the part #s. I had to modify what I could get to work as I was in Mexico when the banging issue became serious.

Good luck

Thanks, will look at those!

Ride quality seems pretty good, 75,000 ,miles or so...

If its that, should be an easy fix...
