Class A city water/tank fill/normal questions

So when my holding tank is full I use the water pump and all works as it should

I’m at a campground the has water hook up, so I screwed hose into rig and kept on normal but was getting tons of air and no water

Turned to city fill and I have water? Is city fill the setting needed when hooked up at a site and not using my RV holding tank with water pump??? Please verify so I don’t mess nothing up

Ahhhhhhh

If you are not hooked up to city water you'll use the RV water pump for water.

When hooked to city water the pump is not needed and can be left off. It is highly recommended to connect a water regulator to the city water connection prior to connecting your hose. RV lines can only withstand ~100psi and with no regulator you generally will have no way of knowing what their pressure will be once connected and water valve turned on.

Understood

The question is when I am hooked up to city water @ campsite my valve has 3 positions

1st-normal
2nd-tank fill
3rd- city fill

The only way I have water when hooked up to this site is on city fill??? Is that correct ????

When on normal and tank full I can use water pump and work

So city fill is the position to be in when hooked up at camp site?????

And yes I have a RV pressure regulator on the end of hose

My RV only has two positions, normal and fill. If I am not hooked up to a water supply I turn on my water pump and draw from my fresh water tank.

When I am hooked up to a city water supply I set my water at normal. When I want to fill my fresh water tank and am hooked up to a fresh water supply I set it to fill and the water from the hose now fills my fresh water holding tank.

My water valve is like yours City/Normal/Fill. When at a campground and connected to their water supply I set the valve to City. When I want to draw from my tank using the pump, I switch to Norma position. Fill position is just that, filling my on board tank.

Wow buddy thanks! Took me 30 mins messing around

Amazing sir, with this new class a I like to know how to do some thing before just doing!!!!

Also I have a 90 degree end so it puts less stress on the connection and also a pressure regulator so I know the pressure is correct since pressures change camp ground to campground

So I want to sum this post up

My new class a legacy 38C have 3 positions for the water on the exterior

Straight up was “normal”
To the left was “tank fill”
Straight down “city fill”

1. When at a campground/boondock with no water hook up, I use the valve on normal position with water pump on to pump the water. Of course with tank full
2. Fill tank is to fill my house fresh water tank
3. City fill is for when I have water hook up, and all is good

Thanks every one here on the forum always so helpful

Which end of the hose? Silly question but I’ve seen many times where they’ve put the regulator on the coach-end of the hose, instead of the city-end, and their water hose looked like a large python.

Make sure to turn off the water pump when on city water or the system may fill (and overfill) your fresh water tank when you may not want to.
