Class A Gas Versus Diesel - Our first Motorhome purchase

Hi Denmo. We may have a good 1st Class A motorcoach for you. It is a 2006 38' Fleetwood with the best gas setup; 8.1L GM engine and Allison tranny. We've had it cross country and up and down the Eastern seaboard with a toad. It's been a great rig and is very well maintained with many upgrades. Please PM me if you are interested. So I have trailered with both gas and diesel over the years. Obvious advantages and disadvantages between them.
I purchased a Class A DP 2 years ago. The only way I would ever purchase a gas Class A is if I were only using it locally, where I can get gas and service at place I am familiar with. Utilizing truck stops for fueling is a massive advantage of the DP. Trying to get into standard gas stations can be a nightmare i.e. tight entry, cars that don't leave enough room, high curb entries/exits. I took a 9,000mi trip this summer and the 3-4 times I got gas at a local type station were all big headaches.

I know that gassing up a gas Class A is always a hot topic, and that stopping blindly at any station can get you in a bind. BUT, you only gas up once a travel day, maybe twice if you force it. It's not an overwhelming task, or even just a burden to find a station beforehand that can accommodate you for that one stop. Just take a moment to search on Google Maps at the point where you figure a gas up is needed and find a station beforehand. It's easy, certainly much easier than portrayed on here. We traveled West, North and East this year, over 10,000 miles, and in no instance did I have a problem with getting gas at a station that fully accommodated my Class A and toad. Been doing this since we started with our gas Class A's in 2004. It's not that big of a deal. Don't let it scare you off if you seriously want a gas vs diesel Class A.
