Class A Gassers fuel
We can get manuals for campgrounds, places to see, places to eat online in a few seconds, but my biggest gripe to traveling is;
WHERE CAN I GET IN TO BUY GAS!
Lots of stations everywhere you look but I have the most difficult time finding a gas station that is the least bit comfortable to access and depart with our serious fears of a disastrous tail swing on a 38’ gasser. You would think SOMEONE out there that compiles reams of data on everything else related would compile , in their , travels a book of RV FRIENDLY GAS STATIONS. Most locations are designed around VWbug size autos. Anyone out there have any helping solutions to this problem, I can’t be the ONLY one having these issues. Critical comments not accepted, helpful comments welcome. LOL

Most gas stations are laid out to support cars, SUVs and light trucks with no consideration to a gasoline truck pulling a longer trailer or a motorhome. When we had a 34' motorhome and a dinghy, often, I would have to stand off to the side and wait for an end pump that I could reach. A few times, my wife or I would have to literally stand in place at the pump so that I could get a chance to pull in. Always some jerk wanting to scoot in place and not let us fuel.
Now with Google Earth and Maps, you can look at photo images of a fuel station and see what the access looks like before you use the station.

A search for RV fuel stations brought up a few links.
This site might be helpful.
Gas Buddy RV Friendly
I also noticed a few links advertising phone apps that are supposed to list stations good for RVs. Haven't used any of them so don't know cost or how well they work.

We always try to find a Costco gas station. They are generally RV friendly, though we still check google maps to be sure. When we can’t do that, many casino gas stations are rv friendly.

Costco is always my 1st choice. I haven't found one that isn't easy in and out.

Most all of the Flying J truck stops have an "RVs only" lane for gassers and smaller diesel vehicles that don't want / need to use the big truck pumps where all the 18 wheelers go, but it is often tied up with somebody wanting propane.
I agree with Wayne that Costco will almost always be a better choice, Sam's pumps not so much. Sam's are almost always smaller and more congested than are the Costco stations.

We had gassers for 10 years; maybe the best thing about moving to a DP is fueling. I used to plan on 45 minutes to get gas; now it's 15 minutes at a truck stop.

One thing I have found to mitigate the tail swing is to not stop close to the pump. in other words keep out from the pump so that the hose just reaches the fuel inlet. that gives the option to turn left or right when leaving. also use the pump on the end of the island. you will be blocking the pump next to it also.using the end island even if you have to wait for it is best. in time you will gain experience and confidence to be able to spot the best situations.

yes, the outside pumps are the current answer. and all the caveate s mentioned are an absolute. I have explored the Loves FlyingJ and pilot web sites and they do identify rv friendly stations but after google earthing the actual addresses I find that they make the claim if they have gas pumps out front. LOL

It is a challenge finding a station to get gas. Sometimes you might abort getting gas and get back on the freeway. Even Pilot and Flying J will say they are RV friendly and are not.
So if you can on google earth look for gas pumps that are parallel to the station those are the easy ones.

Gotta love Buc-ees! Fueled up at the one in New Braunfels this morning. .50cents cheaper than the local Pilot! Needed a 100 gallons, Buc-ees was a no brainer.

You can also get a Next Exit book. Clearly indicates RV friendly fuel locations.
