Class A Handling
My 2006 Allegro Open Roads class A tends to sway and be very sensitive to road surfaces and large trucks passing me. Which would be more effective in increasing my stability, air bags or sway bar upgrades and would front or rear be best? Thanks in advance for all reply's.

Do the CHF, cheap handling fix.
It changes the sway bar reaction rate and limits the sway from wind and passing trucks.
Searce for it on this site. All it involves is moving 4 links to a different hole in the anti sway bar.

I would first need to know the overall length, the wheelbase, the rear overhang length, and the 4 corner weights.

Welcome to the forum. Here are my recommendations
- Check tire pressure to ensure its at least the minimum required for your weight.
- Replace the shocks. At 15 years old, if they are OEM, they are probably bad. (I used regular ole Monroes)
- Perform the CHF if this is an F53.
- Do a front end alignment. Set the toe in to max, if they adjust caster, set it at 1 degree past max (about 7 degrees)
- Consider a track bar for the rear axle.

CHF than rear track bar. Front track bar if you don.’the have one.

For our last gasser, a Tiger Trak rear trac bar and a set of Koni FSD shocks took care of crosswinds and excessive porpoising. This was on a '05 37' HR with a W-22 chassis. These two upgrades negated the need for other handling fixes...what a difference.

You need to specify which chassis you have. Since it's a 2006 it could be either a Workhorse or a Ford. A Safe-T-Plus steering damper will help either one.

Number 1 is a great place to start. Underinflation is a huge issue on curves and when driving in wind as well as meeting large vehicles

Hello, Guess I should have included this information in me first post. This is a Workhorse W22. My front to rear axle center is 20'-2". My tail overhang is 11'-8". My overall length is 35'-2". The tires are inflated to 125 psi and look to be close to new. Shocks look like they've been there a while, the rubber bushings are cracked rather badly so I will be replacing them next. I do not know the individual weights. I did have it aligned at a reputable truck shop when I first got it and that did make it easier to keep it in a straight line but there's still room for a lot of improvement. Thanks for all the great information.

The entire problem arises from the long overhang, 1/3 of total length is behind the rear axle. You are receiving good advice about the cheap handling fix and other suspension aids.

Forgot to mention that increasing positive caster helps with directional stability on the W-22 chassis. This is done with shims during a front end alignment.
