Class A Motorhome Generator Wiring

I just dropped the 75-gallon gas tank on my motorhome to change out the fuel pump. Once I got the tank down, I found a broken off wire; don't know if I did it, or if it was that way already. There is a large wire loom above the fuel tank that has three wires: The red and black heavy cables to the Onan 4000 generator and one green wire about 16ga. The green wire branches off of the other wire loom above the fuel tank and is about 4 feet long. The end of the small wire loom with the green wire is taped off (as is typical prior to a connection) with about six inches of bare wire that is broken off. I traced the wire all the way up to the front area under the hood where it appears to run to the dash area. I'm thinking it is possibly related to the generator remote start on the dash or the generator run time gage. I can't find anything in the area that the wire would connect to. Here are a couple pictures as well.

Perhaps ground wire for fuel pump?

Maybe a safety ground for the tank. Look for a broken ring terminal near pump. You can also ohm the wire to see if goes to chassis ground.

Well, that was a morning well wasted.
I connected a long wire to the end I found at the gas tank and ran it to the front of the motorhome. I did a continuity check of the fuel pump relay and nothing. Took the dash apart and checked continuity on the generator switch and meter, nothing. Did more tracing and found where the wire ran behind the white control board under the hood and looked like it ran through the firewall. I went back in and after much digging under the dash, finally found where it came in under the a/c heater control. I followed it and it went to.... nothing. Just the other end laying behind the dash. Apparently, it was for some option not used.
At least it's great peace of mind. I wish I knew that wire was there when I ran the toad brake indicator wire from the rear bumper to the dash!
Another case of much ado about nothing.
