That's pretty cool. Prolly cause a couple wrecks each time you use it, tho! \ken

PS. Think I'd rather have a genny in there, tho.

One Australian road safety campaign was tailor-made for this suggestion

Big horn, little penis.

Train horns are illegal on a road vehicle in California. Don't know about your state though.
Have you checked with the police?

Pretty cool!
But if you are thinking about putting train horns on your RV, know that they require A LOT of AIR! So you need a dedicated tank to run them or you will deplete your braking air supply in very short order! And that will leave you on the side of the road till your air builds back up. As long as you honk them very briefly and do not hold the pull down very long, you should be ok. But watch the air gauge! Just so you know!

Verified with police Dept. Train horns are not illegal in California. Law does not mention decibiles either.
Law is subjective to volume.

Are Train Horns Illegal in My State? – Train Horns USA

It appears from the above article you can mount them, you just can't use them.

That brings up some interesting legal questions. I would guess that depending on your state law. You could have it mounted and available for use if your individual state allows it. No other state in the US would be able to cite you for having it. However their laws would apply towards using it. So you might depending on your state laws be able to have it but not use it depending on where you were at.

Of course if you dont mind paying the ticket you can use it where you want.

$108 ticket in CA. I'd pay it. It would be worth it to me for the effect it would have on the person I used it on. I have a really loud air horn on both of the Italian's. Sure gonna miss those when I let them go.

I'd rig it up with it's own air system with a separate horn button/switch.

The one in the video seems to be suffering from COPD.

Class A Nathan Train Horns

A lawsuit from those that panicked in traffic?
Don't honk at road rage freaks.
Is this the same as the woofer that takes up a back seat and creates hearing aid sales?
Not illegal? Honk at just one CA legislator.

The airhorn on my rv actually did cause a guy to get all squirrely once (standard dual horns on the roof). He passed me on the interstate after being stuck behind me and the people in the left lane for what must have been a longgg time for him. He came back into my lane as soon as his middle finger cleared me and I had to spike the brakes to keep from hitting him.

I laid into the horn and he spazzed out running off the road. Luckily he skidded into some nice soft sand and got stuck. He probably never saw my salute.

I have run "train horns" on all my big rigs in calif and they are not illegal. What is a problem is disturbing the peace while being an idiot with them. There is also the problem with REAL train horns the nathans, they are serial #'d and registered to each engine they came on. Having stolen railroad property is a federal offense and can get real ugly. saw a few truckers get nailed on that years back. I always ran the aftermarket horns. couldn't afford the real ones...
