Class A posting activity vs sales

This is a bit prejudicial, but maybe interesting. I have a new Thor Axis on order but I find much more activity on the Winnebago sub forum to this site or Winnebago' own forum. The ratio is about 3:1.

It isn't that there are more Winnie Class As than Thor. Looking at RVTrader listings there are 1,922 Thor Class As and 1,373 Winnie Class As for sale today.

Also FWIW Winnebago's own site has some very knowledgeable people- Creativepart and others, although I respect Bob Denman's posts (a Tiffin owner BTW), ducksface and others on the Thor forum.

So any thoughts?

When you say "Winnebago's own forum," I'm not sure exactly what you are referring to. I don't recall Winnebago ever having a forum on their website or even on the WIT Club website.

Might you be referring to the "Winnie Owners" forum? ...HERE?

If so, that's actually not Winnebago's own site. It isn't affiliated or endorsed by Winnebago as noted in the disclaimer at the bottom of each webpage. It's actually a spinoff of THIS forum, iRV2. It is an RV Life Community just as iRV2 is and you can login with the same email and password as you use here.

I don't think ads on RVTrader are a reliable indicator of sales either. It just means that Thor dealers are making more use of RVT than Winnebago dealers. Perhaps because the Winnebago brand is well-known and they get plenty of walk-ins anyway.

As a former Axis owner I can attest to the truth of the statements above - most of the Thor owners' activity is over on the Thor Owners Forum website.

The Thor owners who post here were very helpful (and hopefully I helped a bit too), but there is vastly more traffic and information on the other site.

There are lots of good threads over there on the Axis that you might find worthwhile. There are some here too, but most have to do with older models (mine was a 2014). You'll find more on current models, "over there".

As for advertising, Thor and acquired brands do represent the largest group of motorhomes on sale today. They are carried by multiple nation-wide dealers, and they do appear to dominate some of the online sales sites. When compared to any one single brand, e.g. Winnebago, Thor branded products may well have a larger presence, primarily in the entry-level market as that is where they do their greatest volume. Move up the price/quality/luxury ladder a little bit though, and that changes and names like Fleetwood, Newmar, Winnebago, and Tiffin begin to dominate.

Hope you enjoy your Axis. We had a lot of fun in ours.

Regards

Randy

Just one... There is no relationship between Groups A and Groups B ownerships and their interest in online participation. Statistics 101
