Class A RV cover brands

Let me start by saying that I am a believer in RV covers. I have used an Elements cover that I purchased through Camping World for five years. We live in the high desert of California where it’s very hot, very cold, occasional snow, wind and dust. I have never had any chaffing or abrasion issues. I did go the extra effort of protecting all sharp edges before covering and yes they are a bear to get up on the RV but once there it was easy to roll out.

My issue is I cannot find Element covers anywhere. So I am looking for a good, reliable replacement brand and was wondering if folks out there have had good results from other brands.

I prefer not to hear more nightmare stories, just reply’s from folks that might have good recommendations and why.

My rig is a 2018 Winnebago Vista 29VE
Thx

To bigdog70 -

I believe in RV covers if you purchase a durable one and apply it properly.
I purchased our moderate to high priced top only cover with extra over hang length at the end of our last winter, here in the Mid-Atlantic area.
Have yet, to install it.
We have very high wind gusts in the winter, here.

Curious, how you protected the sharp ended items and objects on the roof from tear / wind sear damage of your cover ?

I just use pieces of pool noodle foam and duct tape to cover any sharp edges.

Thanks but the only problem with that Elements cover on Amazon is that it only comes in the 37’-40’ size and my rig is 30’. On Amazon there are no other size options.
Elements Premium All-Climate Cover, Class A, 37'-40' (37' - 40')

Vato,

I have checked out ADCO and others but I was looking for replies from folks that have actually used covers and have had good success with them. I’ve had neighbors buy other brands for their Class A’s and they last one or two year and then are shredded. I paid a little more but my Elements cover lasted five years.

it took roughly 5 seconds of an internet search to find that one. 29 feet is a pretty small Class A, they make travel trailer ones too that likely fit. A second search revealed they are probably made and/or distributed by Barbaras Development probably owned by Camping World who oddly also sells them. Maybe contact them.

Iceclimber,
It took you seconds?
30’ is perfect for my wife and I and it is the right size to enter the State and National Parks that we enjoy camping in.
I have attempted to contact Barbaras Development but have responded to my email. I also contacted our local Camping World and was informed that they no longer carry Elements brand cover other than whatever stock they still have. Unfortunately they do not have any my size.
I appreciate your reply.

I’m going on year five with our ADCO cover and it’s holding up decent.
It’s the roof only model, which is much easier to handle. It has a small tear where the rear camera rubbed thru, so as others have stated cover those sharp areas with something to protect against abrasions.

bigdog70, Did you ever replace your cover and if so with what?

I had great experience with an Elements cover and after over 5 years I finally had to replace it last year. I couldn't find an Elements cover and took a chance on one I found on Amazon. It only lasted a year and UV rays got to roof of it and it tore apart. Did you have the Elements All-Climate or "Premium All-Climate"?

The reason I ask is that I had the standard cover but I have found someone with a new in-box Elements "Premium All-Climate". According to an article I found, difference with the Premium All-Climate covers is it's made of a Poly-Oxford fabric, supposedly twice as durable, completely water repellent, lighter and more compact to store. I had such good performance from the old one I wish I could find it but I'm considering this other one ($700) but concerned the Poly-Oxford won't handle UV rays as well.

I'm Vato's neighbor. He does use a cover all the time and we live in a windy area in Ventura County. He gets several years out of his covers.

Many years ago, I found a place in the San Fernando Valley that made duck cloth covers like they use on boats. That lasted over ten years.

Here's a tip.....I took a Home Depot plastic storage box, the type you place in your yard for storage (4' L, 3'T, 2'W and mounted it on a pair of poles so the top of the box was at the height of my motorhome roof. I kept the cover in the box. When we got home from a trip, I climbed on the roof, opened the box and pulled out the cover. When ready for a trip, I rolled it back up and stuffed it in the box. It made covering the coach sooooo simple.

I had very good luck with the Adco covers, about 5 years then they got very weak and tore super easily. I purchased a Gold Line cover, now into its 5th winter. It is a little heavier than the Adco to install, but 5 years in it is strong and have had absolutely no tears. It still looks new.
