Clear Coat chipped

I found a spot above the front windshield where the Clear Coat over the full body paint has been chipped from a stone.
The paint is actually intact, but the chip is the size of a quarter and I don't want to try to rub it out and potentially increase the size, making it more noticeable.
Is is possible to just do a light spray of Clear Coat over this area and will it blend in, or look worse?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Get the smallest amount of polyester resin gel. Boat shop might have it in a tube mix as instructed apply a very small amount. just enough to cover the chip. put a piece of wax paper over the patch and tape it down. It will smooth out and extend a little over the edge. Let it cure a couple of days and lightly sand the patch with 300 grit wet sand paper then polish it out with compound wax product like Meguires.

I purchased the following on ebay to repair a chip in my gelcoat. Worked great. The hardest part will be to get a good color match.
