Co pilot GPS

For anyone who uses the above RV friendly GPS system. Apparently there is a bug on their system that is triggered by updating the width dimension above 96”. I’ve been traveling with the system for several years now. Occasionally, the app would take me down some surprising routes. Last week it tried to take me down a horrendous route in coatsville PA. I called the campground and they talked me around it. I opened a ticket with Trindle who I guess owns co pilot now. Anyway after many attempts to blow me off I showed them the issue Took me an hour working with the app to figure out the trigger They have agreed to look at the issue Anyway, it appears that leaving the width at 96” prevents the erratic behavior. With that said I’ve been double checking all routes against other GPS. :(

I tried it on a trip last year (paid for Full app with sizes and weights) it routed me down a very windy road while pulling my Explorer and another time tried sending me down a 30ft restricted road (I’m 55ft). I gave up on it. Next year I’ll be getting a Garmin RV GPS. It’s expensive, but at least I know what to expect!

I've been using it for years and, as with all GPS routing software, there will be issues. The 102" width issue may very well be driven by the fact that 102" wide vehicles are restricted to Interstates and something like 1 mile from Interstates. I can see where there will be conflicts with the legal issues of 102" vehicles when the GPS device is making the call as to where it can legally route you. I really like the clean, concise graphics, voice directions, traffic, and human interface, that I get with CoPilot GPS. If there is truly a bug, then thanks for hanging in there and making them aware of it. That's the only way that it will truly get better. Never perfect, but better.

I had used Co-Pilot for many years when it was laptop based. It was great.

Used it for the motorhome on the iPad....and it lead me multiple times down the wrong path. And twice tried to send me under a train trestle that was 9' 6".

I find the support at Co-Pilot poor at best. I have abandoned the app and couldn't be more pleased with my Garmin 780. Best of luck.
